As most of you are aware, the Dept of Education, in partnership with the NLTA and Parks Canada, offers a summer institute called ONSITE each summer.
Over the years the ONSITE program has changed from a more general program open to all teachers to a program tailored specifically to grade 7 – 12 science teachers (environmental issues) and K – 12 Social Studies teachers (natural history and historic sites). In addition, while the original program was available at a subsidized cost to teachers, the new program is completely free to the teachers selected to attend. With the change in programs has come an expansion in the number of teachers we can accommodate.
In an attempt to ensure information regarding the ONSITE program is reaching the intended audience, and to ascertain whether the programs we are offering are meeting the needs of teachers (for summer institutes), we have developed an online survey. This survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=1Ny0UvJT6ukakMGw1I6JUQ_3d_3d and will take about 5 minutes to complete.
Any interested teacher may complete the survey. We will use the information obtained from this survey to help us develop future ONSITE summer institutes to ensure it more accurately addresses the needs of teachers. Please note, participation in this survey is NOT limited to science or social studies teachers; any teacher interested in participating in summer institutes or providing feedback on summer institutes is encouraged to complete the survey. On behalf of Rob Hingston (Parks Canada) and George Tucker (NLTA) I thank you for your kind attention to this request.
